Monty's of Sheffield is the city's longest established family
run motor business.
Motor trade business began for the founding Monfredi family in the
1930s, but it was in 1953 that Lewis Monfredi, father of current directors,
Leonard and Stephen, started dealing in used cars from Middlewood Road
in Hillsborough, Sheffield.
By
1959 the family had transferred to Oughtibridge on the outskirts of
the city, acquiring the Toyota franchise in 1980. A decade later the
move was made to an extensive new showroom on the three-acre Penistone
Road site - the largest of its kind in the city - which Monty's still
occupies today.
In late 2003, Monty's was pleased to acquire the Hyundai franchise
for the city, since when the range of value for money models - all backed
by a unique five year warranty - is continuing to prove extremely popular
with customers old and new.
In early 2004, Monty's declined Toyota's offer to expand its sales operation
because it was felt not to be in the best interests of either the company
or its customers.
Now, as one of the north's largest officially approved Toyota Specialist
Service Outlets, Monty's continues to supply Toyota approved and guaranteed
servicing, repairs and warranty work, in addition to offering one of
the largest parts operations and an impressively equipped Toyota approved
bodyshop.
As well as being able to source any make of new car, Monty's prides
itself on offering one of the area's finest selections of used cars,
all available with the benefit of the company's special deals.
Through its newly formed company, Hallamshire Vehicle Leasing, Monty's
can also satisfy the requirements of even the most discerning and cost
conscious business user by dealing directly with the manufacturers of
all makes of vehicle.
Four years ago, within the same site, the company opened a purpose-built
Lexus Centre, and in early 2002 acquired the Hyundai/Isuzu dealership
which operates from an adjacent state-of-the-art showroom and workshop.
